Liberty After Dark
Seven tickets, one city

Problem
Guests may know one Liberty venue and not the others. A hypothesis to test, not a finding.
My role
Solo: digital marketing strategy, creative direction, copy, design and build, using AI-assisted tools for the site and concept imagery.
Outcome
A complete digital campaign system: a seven-day channel calendar, four print and digital formats, a working React concept site and a measurement plan. It has not run, so there are no results.

Concept project. A self-directed demo project, not a role or client work: I have never worked for Liberty Entertainment Group, and it did not commission or approve this. No real event, offer or results: figures labelled SIMULATED are invented to show the method, and food and room images are AI-generated concepts.
1. Overview
Liberty Entertainment Group runs many distinct Toronto venues, and a guest may only know one. Liberty After Dark is a seven-day discovery campaign I proposed to change that: “Seven days of discovery. One unforgettable city.”
Each day is a numbered coat-check ticket that opens one neighbourhood. Day 1 opens the week, Days 2 to 6 each feature a venue, and Day 7 lets guests choose.
What this is, and isn’t
Self-directed concept. Not commissioned or approved by Liberty Entertainment Group. A demo project, not a role or client work.
| Day | Ticket | Venue | Message |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Invitation | Whole city | Which night is yours? |
| 2 | The Castle | BlueBlood Steakhouse | Start at the top of the hill |
| 3 | The Harbour | Don Alfonso 1890 | Thirty-eight floors above the water |
| 4 | The Table | Cibo Wine Bar | Bring everyone |
| 5 | The Stage | Powder Room | Up one flight, and the night changes |
| 6 | The Ballroom | Liberty Grand | For the nights with a guest list |
| 7 | Your Night | Whole city | The choice is yours |
Scope: campaign strategy, social, email, print, web and event planning. What I made:
- Campaign strategy: audiences, goals, positioning and a funnel from discovery to the venue’s own booking page.
- Social calendar: seven tickets across six channels, with a lead and supporting placement for each day.
- Four formats: an A3 poster, an Instagram post, a Mailchimp email and a menu insert.
- A working website: a React concept site with a map, filters and a shortlist.
- Event workflow: a four-week timeline, a design priority order and a same-day posting routine.
- Measurement framework: a funnel, KPIs and an email A/B test, shown with simulated figures.
2. The campaign deck
The whole campaign as a 14-slide deck, from the idea to event-day operations. Use the arrows, swipe, or pick a slide below; select a slide to see it full size.
3. Challenge
My hypothesis: guests discover Liberty venue by venue. Someone who knows the castle may not know the supper club, even though both belong to the same group.
This is a hypothesis to test, not a finding. I have no visitor data from Liberty, so the campaign is built to measure whether cross-venue discovery actually grows.
4. Research
I audited Liberty’s public website and each venue page. Every venue fact in the campaign traces to an official page, and anything I could not verify, such as menus, prices, hours and event dates, stayed out. The audiences in the table below are my proposal.
- visitors a year at Casa Loma, home of BlueBlood Steakhouse
- 650,000+
- Source: Liberty Entertainment Group’s Casa Loma page
| Venue | What the official page says | Proposed audience |
|---|---|---|
| BlueBlood Steakhouse | Inside Casa Loma, 1 Austin Terrace. A modern twist on the classic steakhouse. | Occasion makers and visitors |
| Don Alfonso 1890 | 38th floor of 1 Harbour Square, Harbourfront. Its only North American location, with a Michelin star since the first Toronto guide in 2022. | Destination diners |
| Cibo Wine Bar | King West (522 King St W) and Yorkville (133 Yorkville Ave). Rustic Italian. | Groups of friends |
| Powder Room | Second floor, 129 Yorkville Ave. A supper club and cocktail lounge with live music. | Night-out planners |
| Liberty Grand | Exhibition Place. Three grand ballrooms and one modern room, for groups of 150 to 3,000. | Event planners |
5. My role
I built Liberty After Dark on my own as a demonstration campaign. The brief I set myself was simple: show how I would plan, design, run and report on one campaign across several venues, and how I would handle their social accounts day to day.
I did the strategy, creative direction, copy, design and build: the audience and channel plan, the seven-day social calendar, the poster, Instagram post, email and menu insert, the concept website, the event workflow and the measurement framework. I used AI-assisted tools to help build the concept site and to create concept imagery, and I directed, reviewed and edited all of the work.
What this is, and isn’t
Liberty Entertainment Group did not commission, review or approve this campaign, and none of it has been published.
6. Strategy
| Audience | They want | Lead venue |
|---|---|---|
| Occasion makers | A night worth marking | BlueBlood, Don Alfonso 1890 |
| Night-out planners | Energy, quickly | Powder Room, Cibo Wine Bar |
| Toronto visitors | A landmark evening | BlueBlood at Casa Loma |
| Event planners | A room for everyone | Liberty Grand |
- Primary goal: qualified visits to official venue and booking pages.
- Secondary goals: owned email growth and event enquiries for Liberty Grand.
- Positioning: each venue keeps its own brand. The campaign is only the frame.

7. Visual direction
The campaign is built on a coat-check ticket: a numbered stub that scales from a Story to a poster and gives every day its own place in the week. Type is Imbue for display and Hanken Grotesk for text.
These are concept tokens, not Liberty brand standards. The campaign deliberately uses different type and colour from Liberty’s own site, so it can’t be mistaken for an official page.

#EEE7DC - Champagne

8. Campaign assets
One idea in four finished formats, designed with AI-assisted tools. None of them promotes a real event, offer or menu, and none has been published or sent.

A3 poster.
Instagram post, Day 5. AI-generated concept images, not real venues.
Mailchimp email. Proposed copy, not sent. AI-generated concept images, not real venues.
Menu insert. A layout sample with no dishes or prices.
9. Digital execution
The campaign hub is a working React concept site, live as an independent proposal and hidden from search engines so it can’t be mistaken for an official venue site. It routes every guest to the venue’s own site or booking partner, and it never takes a reservation itself.
- 1.
Arrive
The idea is clear in one screen, with seven tickets to choose from.
- 2.
Explore the map
Each ticket lights up a neighbourhood on a real Toronto map and opens that venue’s story.
- 3.
Filter by kind of night
Landmark evenings, fine dining, live music, wine and friends, or big celebrations.
- 4.
Keep a shortlist
Kept nights wait in Your Week, saved in the browser.
- 5.
Click out
Each venue links to its own site or booking partner, where availability is confirmed.

Filter by kind of night. AI-generated concept images, not real venues.
Keep a shortlist in Your Week. AI-generated concept images, not real venues.
The same journey on a phone. AI-generated concept images, not real venues.
10. Event workflow
| Workstream | When |
|---|---|
| Brand and venue approvals | Weeks −4 to −3 |
| Venue content shoot | Weeks −3 to −2 |
| Design, edit and copy | Weeks −3 to −1 |
| Email and page QA | Weeks −2 to −1 |
| Seven days live | Live week |
| Reporting and optimisation | Live week to week +1 |
Design requests across venues, in priority order:
- 1. Today’s event: anything needed for an event or live moment today.
- 2. Print deadlines: menus and signage, because printers need lead time.
- 3. Dated campaigns: scheduled posts, emails and ads with a set launch.
- 4. Everything else: evergreen content and nice-to-have ideas.
- 1.
Find the image
Start with an approved image from a similar past event.
- 2.
Edit it
Update it quickly in Adobe or CapCut.
- 3.
Schedule it
Set it in the social tool, timed within the hours left.
- 4.
Keep it simple
A Story and a post, not a full campaign.
- 5.
Check it
Target the right audience and watch the traffic.
That is how a same-day event gets posted within hours. If it is hours away, the Story and post go out right away; later today or tomorrow, they are scheduled ahead of the event; for a Friday or the weekend, they are timed to when guests make plans.
11. Measurement framework
No real results.
The campaign has never run. Every number below is SIMULATED: invented to show the reporting method, not a result and not a forecast. Real targets would come from real baselines.

KPIs to measure, with real targets set from real baselines:
- Reach and engagement rate (engagements ÷ reach) for social.
- Click-through rate (clicks ÷ impressions) from social and email to the landing page.
- Email open and click rates for the owned channel.
- Landing page visits and outbound venue clicks, the primary goal.
- Event enquiries for Liberty Grand.
Email A/B test, with one variable: the subject line.
- Subject A: “Which night is yours?”
- Subject B: “Seven evenings, five rooms, one city”
- Segments: by the kind of night a guest chose at signup.
- Booking: always on the venue’s own partner.
12. Accessibility
- Lighthouse accessibility score of 100 on every page of the concept site, on mobile and desktop.
- WCAG AA contrast checked in automated tests for every text and background pairing, with raw Sage kept off text surfaces because it falls short.
- Responsive down to 320px, with no sideways scrolling and the same journey on a phone.
- Keyboard support for the tickets, filters and Your Week shortlist, with a visible focus outline and a skip link.
- Reduced motion: animation steps aside for visitors who ask for less motion.
13. Reflection
Building the whole campaign, not just the idea, made the work concrete. Instead of describing how I would manage social accounts for several venues, I could show it: one calendar across five venues, a priority order for design requests, and a routine for posting a same-day event within hours.
The discipline was in what I left out. Every venue already has its own brand, so the campaign had to be a frame, not a new identity. I kept every fact to Liberty’s official pages, labelled every simulated number, and dropped the menus, prices and dates I could not verify.
With access to a real marketing team, I would start somewhere different: real baselines for each social account, the events calendar already in motion, and approved photography in place of concept images. The idea that guests know only one venue is still a hypothesis. I would test it with a one-venue pilot before scaling the week across the city.
14. Next steps
- 1.
Check the plan
against real calendars and brand rules.
- 2.
Replace concept imagery
with approved photography.
- 3.
Pilot one venue
to set real baselines before targets.
15. Digital marketing in practice
Liberty After Dark is a demo concept, not client work. This is digital marketing work I have shipped:
- Spark Catalyst. Brand identity and hand-coded, responsive Mailchimp email templates for CTR Inc., with a reported 50% faster campaign production.
- Healthper. Six challenge campaigns, each with a full post lifecycle, and a LinkedIn-led social strategy with a 30/60/90-day plan.
- Healthper website. A Webflow site delivered in 60 days, alongside social and email campaigns.
- Spark Growth. 400+ social graphics and videos across the agency’s own brand and client accounts.
- Video and motion. Campaign and social video for client websites, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Birchway Market. One holiday master adapted to eight IAB display, social and DOOH specs, plus an HTML5 banner.
